Common questions

Etta's calls aren't reaching my parent

Check three things in the app: the number is correct (Family tab), your parent's consent shows as granted (the daily calls only start after they say yes on the introduction call), and your plan has call minutes remaining. Etta calls from a regular US phone number — if your parent's phone blocks unknown callers, save Etta's number from their call history as a contact, and the calls will ring through. Etta currently calls phones in the US and Canada.

My parent said no — or changed their mind

Then the calls stop, immediately and permanently — that decision is theirs and Etta honors it on the spot. If it was a misunderstanding and they'd like to try again, you can set up a fresh introduction call from the app, and Etta will ask again, plainly. She never calls daily without a yes.

Managing or cancelling a subscription

Subscriptions are billed by Apple. To change or cancel: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Etta. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan keeps working until the end of the paid period, and cancelling during the 7-day trial means you're never charged. To restore a purchase on a new device, use Restore Purchases in the You tab.

Deleting my account and our data

In the app: You tab → Delete Account. This permanently erases call transcripts, recaps, trends, memories, your greeting clip, and your parent's details and consent records. You can also email mitsi@uptrail.ai — including requests on your parent's behalf — and we'll delete everything within 30 days. Details in the privacy policy.

Is Etta a real person?

No — Etta is an AI companion, and she'll always say so, including on the very first call to your parent. Every summary in the app is labeled as AI-generated. She's a friendly daily voice and a way for you to stay close — not a replacement for doctors, caregivers, or you.

If you're worried about your parent right now

Etta is a daily check-in, not an emergency service — she can't call 911 and a recap is never a guarantee that someone is safe. If something feels wrong right now, trust your gut and reach a human:

Immediate danger — emergency services
Call 911 (US & Canada). If you're far away, you can call 911 in their city via the local non-emergency line, or ask their local police department for a welfare check.
US — Eldercare Locator
Call 1-800-677-1116 or visit eldercare.acl.gov — a free service of the U.S. Administration on Aging that connects families to local services for older adults.
US — Institute on Aging Friendship Line
Call 1-800-971-0016 — a 24/7 warmline for people over 60 who are lonely, anxious, or just need to talk to someone kind.
US & Canada — 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Call or text 988 — 24/7, free, confidential, for anyone in emotional crisis, any age.
